Thanks to the new facility, Puławy’s existing storage capacity of some 3,500 tonnes, has grown nearly fivefold, which is a major step forward in the strategy of maintaining the continuity of operations and managing relevant risks. The new storage tank is a buffer that offers more flexibility in planning maintenance work, allowing the Company to overhaul longer sections of process lines without slowing production. The facility also provides a storage buffer in case of temporary gas supply interruptions.
“It is a great pleasure to see this new facility open at the Puławy plant. Further hectares of land have been developed to bring us some very tangible benefits. After a series of projects designed to improve efficiency, increase production capacities and reduce environmental impacts, the time has come to build a buffer contributing to increased security of our operations. Thanks to the cutting-edge ammonia storage facility and loading/unloading bays, our storage capacities have grown fivefold, ensuring smoother operation of the entire plant,” said Marian Rybak, President of the Grupa Azoty Puławy Management Board.
“The new facility being placed in service proves that the Grupa Azoty Group is able to quickly turn an idea into reality. In present circumstances, stockpiling feedstocks is strategically important and will allow us to flexibly respond to any supply disruptions,” stressed Włodzimierz Karpiński, the Minister of State Treasury.
