PUŁAWY INVESTS IN DOBRE MIASTO
September 8th 2014 saw the official opening of a modern fertiliser depot in the town of Dobre Miasto, a project executed by Agrochem Sp. z. o.o., a Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY Group company.

The official opening of the fertilizer depot and the ribbon-cutting ceremony were held in the presence of Urszula Pasławska, Deputy Minister of the State Treasury, Janusz Cichoń, Deputy Minister of Finance, and Paweł Jarczewski, Grupa Azoty President. The project is bound to boost the region’s economic potential, but also heralds a positive change on the local labour market.

Unique RSM® depot

The new depot for RSM® (a highly concentrated nitrogen fertilizer) is one of the few such facilities existing in Poland. However, its uniqueness does not lay in the fact that it is the most modern depot of its kind in Poland or that it is the only such facility in the country’s north-east. Its tanks can store approximately 10,000 tonnes of the solution and fully meet the needs of farmers from the Olsztyn Province. The facility is unique in that the fertilizers which are stored there can be enriched with various microelements, such as zinc, or macroelements, such as phosphorus, depending on the needs.

Potential in the region and beyond

The decision to build the depot in Dobre Miasto was made in 2011, taking into consideration − among other factors − proximity of the Warmia Special Economic Zone, owing to which the investment project could benefit from attractive incentives. Another key factor was the potential of the local market. The idea was to set a standard in the provision of services to the farming industry in the region for others to follow.

Two development projects

The Model Fertilizer Depot was built by Agrochem Sp. z o.o., a member of the Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY Group, which specialises in the production of phosphorous-potassium (PK) and nitrogen-phosphorous-potassium (NPK) fertilizers.

The new investment project was implemented as part of two development projects: the Liquid Fertilizer Plant project and the Fertilizer Distribution Centre project (provision of solid fertilizer handling and storage services). The total cost of the project was PLN 15m.
