“Nice” said the champion Piotr Żyła, known for his humorous and concise manner, when asked how he found long jumping. He admitted it was the first time he had ever competed in this discipline so he was all the more happy about his victory. Apart from Żyła, the other participants included Kamil Stoch, a double Olympic champion, and Łukasz Kruczek, the head coach of Polish ski jumpers. Their opponents included Przemysław Krajewski and Piotr Masłowski, handball players from the Azoty Puławy team and bronze medallists at the 2015 World Men’s Handball Championship. After a fierce competition, the handballers had to acknowledge the ski jumpers’ superiority in long jump.
The competition was also an opportunity for students from secondary general and technical schools from Puławy to meet the famous sportsmen. The students not only supported the competitors during the tournament, but also had a chance to talk to them, take photos and get autographs.
The tournament was organised as part of the Polish Chemical Industry Congress, held on June 11th-12th 2015 in Puławy.
