GRUPA AZOTY PUŁAWY WINS THE PRESIDENT’S BUSINESS AWARD
The Grupa Azoty Group celebrated a double triumph in this year’s 12th edition of the President’s Business Award contest, with Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY coming first in the ‘Green Economy’ category and Grupa Azoty S.A. nominated in the ‘Global Presence’ category.

In each of the five categories, the judging panel headed by Wiesław Rozłucki nominated 15 companies from among 115 entrants chosen by 58 institutions. The five best companies were selected by President Komorowski, who personally presented the awards to the winners during the Poznań International Fair on June 2nd. Marian Rybak, President of the Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY Management Board, was there to accept the Award.

Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY was recognised principally for the scale and systematic nature of the environmental initiatives implemented at the Puławy plant, including our successful eradication of sulfur emissions. The consistent implementation of the Responsible Care Framework Management System was also acknowledged.

The President’s Business Award is widely regarded as the most valuable distinction granted to Polish companies, scientific and research institutes, and inventors. The fact that the finalists are chosen once a year by the President of Poland himself is testament to the Award's uniquely prestigious character and a proof of the winners' extraordinary achievements in one of the five categories: Innovation, Global Presence, Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility, Green Economy, and Lasting Success.

The 12th edition of the President’s Business Award contest is a special one as this year marks the 25th anniversary of the first partially free elections to the Sejm and Senate in the post-communist Poland.

“We owe our current economic success not only to the engineers of the great reform, but most importantly to those who made use of our independence,” said Bronisław Komorowski during the Award ceremony in Poznań. He emphasised that economic success cannot be taken for granted and, unless properly nurtured, it may fade or even turn into economic failure, bringing us defeat in this challenging global race.

Aside from Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY, Ceramika Paradyż Sp. z o.o. and General Motors Manufacturing Poland were also nominated in the 'Green Economy' category.

The nominees were chosen by the Business Centre Club. Two years ago, the Company was recognised for its ‘Global Presence’, while this year it was Grupa Azoty S.A. that was nominated in this category.
